Holiday humbleness…

Present over perfect.
Quality over quantity.
Relationship over rushing.
People over pressure.
Meaning over mania…
You’ve been entrusted with one life, made up of days and hours and minutes. You are spending them according to your values, whether you admit it or not. Let’s be courageous in these days. Let’s choose love and rest and grace.”

In awe of those words that simply describe my heart over this Christmas season; to set aside the encumbrance of expectations, no matter how well meaning, and just rest in the Glory of the One true gift.
His birth, our hope.
His presence, our peace.
His resurrection, our eternity.
Love doesn’t get any bigger than that.

So we (I) set aside our Jesse tree activities, and our many names of Jesus’ study.  I still  had dates with my children, but set aside the rush of shopping.  No multiple gifts this year.  Our approach is the 3 gift theme; Jesus received 3 gifts as a babe, it is more than abundant for us to receive also.

Baking cookies, reading stories, pajama days; that is what we are doing.

And blessings are coming abundantly:

A friend made a lovely wreath for me, fresh from her hillside in the country, all because she thinks I am the kind one.

We had a friend ‘drop by’ and pray with us before some doctor appointments.

Received an anonymous Christmas card filled w/ gift cards.

A very thoughtful family member who dropped of large bag of necessities for our bigger boys;
shoes, shirts, & pants.
Not as Christmas gifts, simply to just give, of her heart I might add.

A plate full of goodies, given by a neighbor, made by love.

Yes, Ann, let’s choose love, rest, and grace~
